Light Metals Center

Our Activities

We carry out research and development work in the field of:

  • technology for processing liquid aluminum, magnesium and their alloys and quality assessment,
  • semi-technical casting of ingots for plastic processing,
  • construction of crystallizers for casting ingots from aluminum alloys intended for plastic processing,

  • casting aluminum alloys using the Rapid Solidification method,
  • technology of extrusion of Al and Mg alloys in the process of co-rotating, counter-rotating extrusion and the method of continuous extrusion on a wheel (CONFORM type).

  • production of shapes from Al and Mg alloys by hot plastic consolidation in the process of traditional and continuous extrusion of materials with an ultra-fine-grained structure,

  • die forging,
  • technologies for producing rolled products, including: sheets, strips, foils, clad sheets,
  • production of materials with an ultra-dron-grained structure in severe plastic deformation processes,

  • production of protective and decorative coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys using current and non-current technologies,

  • producing protective coatings on magnesium alloys using electroless methods,
  • corrosion processes in aluminum and magnesium alloys

People and research infrastructure

The scientific staff uses their own experience when implementing research, scientific and research and development projects, both at the national and international level.

The center, located in Skawina, meets the requirements of the ISO 9001: 2008 standard regarding the Quality Management System and has certificate No. 170591-2014-AQ-POL-RvA issued by DNV (Det Norske Veritas), regarding research and development works, design services in the field of light metals.

Offer

We do
  • analysis of mechanical properties and structure of ultra-fine-grained magnesium alloys using light and electron microscopy methods, XRD analysis.

  • chemical analyzes of aluminum alloys and magnesium alloys,
  • analysis of mechanical properties and structure of aluminum alloys and magnesium alloys using light and electron microscopy methods, XRD analysis,

We specialize in the production of high-quality casting aluminum alloys made in accordance with EN, PN, DIN and other standards, as well as according to: individually ordered chemical compositions. We produce ingots for plastic processing from the most commonly used types of aluminum and its alloys. We provide anodic oxidation services for products made of aluminum and its alloys for protective, decorative and anti-abrasive purposes.

We are a manufacturer of equipment for refining aluminum and its alloys.

We offer services related to the technology of preparing liquid metal for casting, casting aluminum and its alloys and magnesium alloys into ingots for plastic processing, plastic processing processes of light metals, i.e. extrusion, rolling, forging, drawing and stamping, production of protective coatings on Al and Mg products , production of new materials based on light metals, processing and disposal of waste.
