Equipment production

  • The Light Metals Branch is a manufacturer of the following equipment of its own design used in aluminum casting:
  • refiners (flow-through, batch)
  • industrial device for measuring gasification of liquid metal using the “first bubble” method

A batch or continuous refining system ensures the removal of hydrogen and non-metallic inclusions from liquid aluminum and its alloys. This is achieved by introducing a stream of inert gas bubbles into the metal bath (using rotors or gas-permeable shapes). Tiny gas bubbles fill the entire volume of liquid metal in the refiner chamber. Inert gas bubbles absorb hydrogen and float non-wettable non-metallic particles to the bath surface.

In the process of hydrogen diffusion from liquid aluminum alloy, parameters such as time, temperature and reaction surface between the liquid metal and the gas bubble play an important role. Therefore, the finer the bubbles and the better their distribution in the metal bath, the larger the reaction surface, which shortens the diffusion path of hydrogen bubbles. During gas refining, as a result of bubbling the metal bath with gas bubbles, there is also the phenomenon of flotation of solid impurities, which are lifted to the surface of the bath. During the refining process, they are collected from the metal surface in the form of dross.

Examples of refining equipment made:

  • URO – 200 KA device. Mobile version (manual trolley, battery, electric according to customer needs. Lifting the refiner and automatic control
  • URO device – 200 KX. Mobile version (manual trolley, battery, electric according to customer needs. Lifting the refiner and manual control.
  • URO device – 200 PA. Stationary version (mounted on the furnace cover)
  • URO device – 200 WA. Mobile version (manual trolley, battery, electric according to customer needs. Lifting of the refiner and automatic control.
  • URO 200 XR device. The device is designed to carry out the refining process in a crucible of a resistance melting furnace or in a casting ladle.
  • URO device – 600 SEM. The degree of gassing is measured by a microprocessor automation system. Stationary version (additionally equipped with a thermal chamber.
