Control of recycling of used lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries

We perform analyses of the chemical composition of separated fractions from the mechanical processing of Li-ion battery scrap:

  • electrode fraction (black mass),
  • metal fraction (copper and aluminum foil),
  • diamagnetic fraction (plastic, paper). We determine the chemical composition of materials originating from hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes of Li-ion battery scrap processing, starting from input materials (electrode fractions) to final products and waste products.

We perform:

  • determination of water content,
  • semi-quantitative analysis of solid samples using the XRF method,
  • quantitative determination of the content of elements Co, Ni, Mn, Li, P, Cu, Al, Fe, Zn, Cr, Sn, Ca, Mg, Na, Mn, B, Cd, Pb, Hg using the ICP AES method,
  • quantitative determination of the content of F and Cl using the potentiometric titration method,
  • quantitative determination of the content of S and C using the IR spectrometry method,
  • determination of the content of organic substances, which are components of the non-aqueous electrolyte of the Li-ion cell (alkanes – DMC, DEC, EMC and alkenes EC, PC),
  • determination of the granulometric composition.
